Florida Coop Winterization

Florida Coop Winterization

The tropics are usually hot, muggy, and often, rainy. My Coop needs EXTRA ventilation, for cooling! This poses a slight issue for a couple weeks out of the year, when it actually might get cold enough for the chickens to wish there wasn’t an icy draft flowing through the coop at night. Back in the day, I came up with this solution… and each year, I do something like it, if temps drop too low and my usually adequate breeze through the coop becomes no-Bueno. I love the re-use of feed bags (I have other things I use them for, too), and the temporary solution is just the right cost($0- well it cost some tape…) to keep the chickens warm in Florida’s winter moments.

What do you do with your empty feed bags?
